Horripilation on Harrison Street

GHOSTS

Ghostly trio – The Prushinski family resided at 311 Harrison Street, Frenchtown, from about 1987 to '97. For Jason that was roughly from age 7 to 17. During those years he would see a man and a woman, who appeared to be in their 40s, and a girl who was about 7. Their clothing seemed to be from the Civil War era. “They never spoke or tried to relay anything to me. They just stood there staring at me. They never seemed angry or sad, just seemed to be there to check stuff and/or make their presence known.

“I was more freaked-out than terrified. Like, why were they standing there saying nothing? I used to make sure every time I went upstairs at night alone, that I was talking to someone the whole time. My senses always spiked in the hallway and in front of my room.

“I also remember seeing orbs moving around my room at night. I would either turn the light on or hide under the covers until morning. I also distinctly remember my name being said loudly once or twice when I was completely alone in the house.

“The attic was a 'bad feeling' zone and the basement, which was dirt-floor and stacked, deteriorating bricks and such, was the really evil spot in the house. Even my grown, ex-bouncer father refused to go into two rooms of the basement without me, and never at night. You just had a feeling like you weren't alone.

“I always thought I was crazy until a few years after we moved out of the house.” That's when he told his mother about his experiences and learned she'd had similar experiences but hadn't wanted to fuel his anxiety.

Years later she was chatting with a woman at a party in New Hope, Pa., and it was revealed they were both alumnae of 311 Harrison. “The woman's face changes and she says, 'Oh, you lived at the haunted house,'” said Jason. She'd had similar experiences there, including seeing the ghostly girl.

(And yes, "horripilation" is a real word. It's when your hair stands on end!)
